We are getting closer to chocolate egg-margeddon, which is all about the theme of resurrection and new beginnings. And on this topic of resurrections. I am breathing life into an old project which I loved like cooked food… Swap ‘Til You Drop.
About four years ago I had a swap project going, it was all about swishing lovers, it got a decent level of attention I even got some nice mentions on the BBC and in Time Out; but I stopped due to a job change, and all kinds of changes so I simply couldn’t keep it going. But, seeing a whole bundle of clothes that are mounting up in my assorted drawers which keep screaming at me to either be recycled or given to friends who have been making noise about certain items that they like.
I figured that I’m dusting the crap off of old girl and bringing my lovely project back to life. And also, I guess that if you are a bride who is looking to save your pennies before the big day then this might be the one for you!
The next installment of swap is going to be on…
Drum roll (not a bacon roll or an egg roll *le sigh*)
A Lovely Sunday in June 2012, and it will be in London with tickets priced at £5
Sorry to be vague, but I’ll confirm the date once I know demand – so if you’ve got more dash than cash and want to turn your old fashion shizz into new shizz well register your interest by dropping a line (not taking one – our first drug related joke of the day boom-boom) and you can visit the website at www.swaplove.co.uk to learn more about the project and how it works. The website isn’t quite perfect yet, but I just wanted to get this out there, I can make things a bit prettier later on. Also, this could be a one off or regular I have made no decisions yet. But, you only live once and all that good stuff. Hope that you swap on by! (last pun I swear!!!)
If you do want to register your interest then drop me a line at hello@swaplove.co.uk
This week I had a chance to view the beautiful gowns from the Pronovias 2013 range, and luckily for me I had my lovely and talented friend, Britt Spring on hand to document the stunning range.
Apart from being utterly gorgeous – the great thing about all the dresses is that there was a style to suit every figure. With the range encompassing not just traditional styles in terms of lace finishing and , there were edgy, fashion forward style influences in terms of cut and texture. In addition the lightweight of the fabrics used made much of the new range perfect for destination weddings.
Despite being a wedding blogger – I am still a neophyte when it comes to all of the details in terms of the dress (but I’m learning!), the great thing is that Peta Hunt, the Editor-at-large of You and Your Wedding Magazine, was on hand to talk us through the collection. The dresses as Peta Hunt said are ‘Substantial without being heavy’, considering that the gorgeous bride will be in the dress all day, the dress has to be a creation that is not only aesthetically captivating (despite the big day being a day of dreams) practicality is an important factor too.
Another point mentioned by Peta, is that the great thing about the dresses is the inclusion of peplum shapes and trains; really celebrate the female form, and without being vulgar lovelies make the rear view rather attractive. I loved the various textures; I think feathers and lace textures are going to be massive trends going forward – the great thing is that textures are a great way of melding the old with the new; providing a fresh twist on design standards.
The photographic glory goes to: Britt Spring
