Well lovelies, it is the hour it is the time and it is shutter candy time, however this shutter candy comes with a side order of interview as today we are featuring some of the gorgeous wedding styling of Jennifer Sue Weddings. So, you enjoy some treats for the eyes and we’ll let Jennifer talk you through her beautiful work and we hope this gives you some fabulous decor ideas for your own big day!
I’m Jennifer of Jennifer Sue Weddings and I have been styling weddings and other fashion/interior projects for nearly 4 years. Having given up my role as Head of Display at Nicole Farhi, I began to style events for friends and family and it snowballed from there. I had so much fun putting it all together that I started looking into offering my services. For me, the look of a wedding is an extension of a great window display or a theatrical backdrop; with a theme and colour palette alongside a wealth of detail. Styling a room adds drama, mood, colour, elegance or softness into often plain and bare surroundings. All these add personality that is unique to the couple – effectively a window into their life together.
Couples generally have ideas of how their day will look. They have seen images in magazines and blogs or want to use their favourite colour and incorporate it into a scheme. My role is to sift through all the ideas to bring a cohesive look together. Once I have viewed the venue I can see what is needed to bring it to life. I work out places to hang ceiling decorations or lighting, and gauge what sort of furniture the venue has to offer. When outside items are required I turn to the many hire companies who offer a great choice of furniture, lighting, linens and vases.
My passion is handmade and DIY elements, such as handwritten menus and place names inscribed on old card, tied with string. I often scour the local car boot fairs to find antiques and vintage items for display. With many events under my belt, I now have a great collection of old books, lace and postcards to dip into. Indeed, one of my favourite weddings was when I styled a vintage tea party at Buxted Park Hotel in the orangerie. The bride and I collected all the crockery and vases from car boot sales and junk shops. The place names were little cards tied to vintage keys; these were then attached with a ribbon onto each tea cup. We had flowers in birdcages and teapots and antique glass vases with butterflies dressed through them. I also used lace and pearls to add extra detail around the centrepiece. To cap things off, the weather was beautiful and the bridal party looked stunning, captured beautifully by the photography of Lisa Devlin and Annamarie Stepney. See Some More

My parents were… the most intelligent stylish, funniest, and sarcastic people you could ever meet. My mom was a model when she was younger and stayed home to raise us brats. My dad was the smartest man I ever met. He fought in the war, worked his way up from a messenger to a VP on Wall Street. I was so proud of my dad that I took him to “Show & Tell” Daddy was my best friend and my hero. I am very proud of my parents. They moved to a country that was not their own and made sure we had everything they never could. It still humbles me when I think of that.
The house I grew up in … had the scariest ass basement ever. I hated our basement. My dad had an extra bathroom built down there and no one ever used. It gave me the creeps! See Some More
Sloan Photographers ***happy sigh*** We love their photography so we of course were totally stoked that these photography wizards had the time to answer our questions. So, be upstanding (if that is possible from behind your desk – might be a bit easier if you have one of those fancy i-pads) for the wonder that is Sloan Photography!
What got you into photography?
(MATT) I have always been into photography. I started playing around with my older brothers camera when I was about 15 and I instantly fell in love.
(ANGIE) Matt got me interested in Photography when we started dating. I instantly loved it and just began to soak up all I could from what he taught me.
What is a typical day like for you?
We try to keep my schedule very simple. We shoot, edit, blog, email etc. We always try to make time for family and friends. That is the wonderful thing about owning a business! If I feel we need a break, we will go to the park or just spend the day together as a family.
Which has been your photo shoot to date?
Our favorite photo shoot of all time, would have to be a shoot Angie did of her best friend and her Mom, just weeks before she passed away from Cancer. It was beautiful and so sincere.
Where do you get your inspiration?
A lot of our inspiration comes from music, movies, art, and sometimes fashion.
If you could take a picture of anyone who would it be and why?
People in general we love to photograph. The emotion is so real and intense, it’s emotion that drives us. If we had to choose a celebrity it would be Lady GaGa!
What are you interests outside of photography?
We love seeing movies, going to concerts, going on fun adventures with our family.
If you weren’t a photographer what would be your Plan B?
We always talk about owning a cute little restaurant, because we LOVE food.
A masssive thanks to the amazingly talented Sloan Photographers – check out more of their fantatic work on their website
