Hello Lovers!
It is time for one of our favourite portions of the week – mix tape time! And on Freedom day Friday the rump shaking music comes to you courtesy of Litte Miss Wedding, a delightful yummy mumm: who has a wonderful Blighty based blog full of all things wedtastic (and she is a jolly good egg!). So, treat your ears to some music, and don’t forget to check out her fantastic blog – but right now time for us to turn the digital turntables over to Little Miss Wedding!
Lionel Richie – Dancing on the Ceiling
this was our first dance, – I could dance all night long to this. Lionel Richie ”All night Long’ is the classic first dance and because my brother had had it we wanted something slightly different so chose this one, which suited us down to the ground as we both LOVE dancing…. I wanted to have about five different first dances but my husband said one was enough!
This weeks mixtape comes from the rather awesome Mistress C, who is the brains behind Bridal Rehab and one of our good twitter buddies. So we had to have her up in here as we love the ecleticism of her blog, her rather awesome finds, and the fact that she is pretty awesome – so mucho, mucho thanks to her for putting this together for us. So, without much further ado, we bid you adieu and we will let this week’s D.J turn you into a Friday Boogiemonster!
1) Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.
My husband and I are those people that you drive up next to in the car and see belting out songs and doing a small little dance in the confines of our car. Guilty as charged, but I can safely say that we aren’t alone. Our friends are no exception to that as well and is one of the many reasons they are our friends. One song that brings all of us together is this song by Journey. This song first made it’s appearance in the hubs and I’s life on a mix tape that I had made for him for when he would drive the 4 hours from Vegas to see little ole’ me in San Diego. After that, it has become our driving anthem. When we drive to a place that is far away, that song usually makes an appearance (or I make it make an appearance). This song also made an appearance at our wedding and one of my best memories from the wedding is singing this song at the top of my lungs with the people I love on the dance floor.
Hey you what’s that sound, everybody check what’s going down! It is that time, it is mixtape love time and this time our magical mix comes from our DJ of the moment Brian from The Groom Says – a man who is now very happily and recently married, and he is super funny to boot! We put the lovely Brian on the spot and demanded he give us a list of tunes, and he hasn’t dissapointed.
So, now it is time to listen to what Friday’s musical maestro has prepared for you. Brian take it away… (PS Congratulations for joining the elite club of the tiniest handcuffs in the world)
For starters, let me just say that HiFi Weddings hit the nail on the head with The Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place,” as did Mrs. Kat Williams with the Huey Lewis & the News hit, “Power of Love.” Both songs set the perfect tone for a kickass wedding. That being said, here are six more songs to guarantee a rockin’ good time:
Ray LaMontagne – You Are the Best Thing
The only thing better than this crowd pleaser, pumping out of the overhead speakers as you exit the ceremony, is Ray himself (and a full gospel choir) performing it live. It’s the perfect ceremony-reception segue song, and as far as pop songs go, it’s by no means overdone.
If digital restraining orders existed the uber brilliant Kat Williams, blog queen supreme and all round kick ass person would have invoked one our little patooties a while ago as we can’t stay away from her blog. It is in a word amazeballs – Rock’n Roll Bride is a byword for wedding awesomeness and if you were to ask who we want to be when we grow up we would say ‘Kat Williams’.
So what could make us happier on a rain sodden day in London than the deity of delicious wedding treats blessing our little pages with a killer songlist. If you have seen this before then y’all know the coup here is a mixtape from her Rock’n Rollness. Time for all of you tune in and rock out! See Some More
