A Gorgeous Leeds Castle Wedding // Nic & Dan

A Gorgeous Leeds Castle Wedding // Nic & Dan

Oh what a lovely treat we have for you this afternoon. Do you like castles?  Thought you might.  Do you like a gorgeous bride and groom from the U plus K, looking at you nodding like that little puppy dog in the Churchill insurance ad.  Well, in that case you will surely love the beautiful wedding of Nic and Dan, and it has oodles of delicious details thanks to styling supremo (and Birthday Girl) Jennifer of Jennifer Sue Weddings.  You might remember the gorgeous decor that we featured a little while back showcasing some of Jennifer’s stunning work (if you didn’t catch that post this is a hint to go and take a peek).

However, right now we are extending a digital invitation for you to attend the glorious big day of Nic and Dan, and as an added bonus we have words from the beautiful bride herself! Take it away Nic:

After deciding we wanted to have the wedding locally in Kent and then seeing the amazing surroundings of Leeds Castle with the beautiful Fairfax Hall, we decided we wanted a very soft and pretty wedding. We thought the vintage theme would look amazing in the surroundings.  We wanted to have lots of delicate flower arrangements, fairy lights and vintage accessories to make everything really romantic, not just in the main wedding breakfast room but also where Dan and I were having our first dance.  Given the time restrictions set by Leeds Castle, I became incredibly worried that everything I wanted (which was a lot!) would not be possible to achieve.

Thank God for Jen! There was so much detail everywhere you looked, from the luxe linens and glass chargers to the cake and card tables. She made the name-tags and table numbers in the frames with a lace pattern theme, and even made pom-poms for the ceiling in the dance room. The whole venue was stunningly transformed from a restaurant to a beautiful wedding venue and dancing area. Amazing!

I felt extremely calm in the morning (although I can’t say the same for Dan).  Knowing that Jen was there and knew our exact vision for the day relaxed us both, leaving Dan and I to just enjoy our day and take everything in!

The nerves crept in as soon as I got in the car with my Dad.  As soon as I walked down the aisle and had hold of Dan’s hand I instantly relaxed.

Coming out of the church and standing for photographs, the sky was terribly overcast and it was cold. We began to worry as our drinks reception was all outdoors!  But as soon as we stepped into our silver vintage 1962 Rolls Royce and made our way to Leeds Castle, the sun shone and the weather was amazing, really showing off the gorgeous grounds. We had champagne out in the gardens and it couldn’t have been any better.

And what were the wedding day highlights? We asked… Nic said:

-     Walking into the church and finally seeing Dan  (this was the part I was most petrified about beforehand).

-      Taking time out, just the two of us to have our photos done.

-      My highlight not Dan’s! Taking a sneaky peak at the wedding breakfast room at Leeds Castle just as it was completed. I saw how, after months of planning and discussions, all our ideas and visions had come together and it looked amazing.

-      Seeing everyone so happy and thoroughly enjoying the day.

Everything was just perfect, exactly how I envisaged it. Every detail was carefully chosen and completed so perfectly (even the cake was selected to be like my dress, with all the beautiful layers).  It couldn’t have been any better! See Some More

Mismatched Bridemaids? A Jolie Moi Idea

Mismatched Bridesmaid – oh with a bit of yes please!  We spied these hyper reasonably priced (£39!) beauties on not on the High Street and it sent us reaching into our minds, and reflecting on multicoloured mischief making in the bridal homegirl department.

Also, colour coding your bridemaids works like a form of wedding GPS you can say you need the green one, the mustard one or the blue one.  We wouldn’t recommend saying the black one or white one, we don’t want to cause some kind of wedding related race war.  But, yes dress gorgeousness comes from the delightful Jolie Moi, who can be found on the delightful Not on the High Street.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a showcase for the immensely talented Peter Langer, and being a lucky old so and so I had the pleasure of getting to viewing his brand new wedding range at Browns Bride.

One thing I need to add before I dissolve into adulation of the dresses is that I adored the Browns Bride space, it is a beautiful boutique with lots of fantastic wedding designsers.  Although it is central London I love that it is off piste enough that you don’t get caught up in the all the tourist traffic and I know our fair city is dependent on tourists; however walking behind them at a snail’s pace isn’t my idea of a fun pied a terre!

When it comes to Peter’s dresses; divine is the word that best sums his range up, the dresses are a symphony of rich textures and gorgeous silhouettes.  One of the dress that drew my eye immediately was a dress that was Mille-feuille of delicate layers that looked as though it was constructed from paper.  It is the stationer in me.  The construction and details of the gowns were exquisite.  There was a great range of modern ideas, with some more traditional inspiration added to the mix.

So, lovelies you look at the gorgeous gowns, and although it is not a traditional colour I adore the black gowns; they fizz with Hollywood Glamour – all I need is some Papparazzi, a red carpet and air kisses and away I go!
