Like OMG we love Alexis of OMG I’m Getting Married – there is so much that we could hate the lovely Alexis for; uber pretty, uber stylish, a knack for creating kickass gorgeous graphics. Yes, oh you have to look at her at the stunning information graphics on her site and like us you will straddle the line between accidentally cuffing her on the back of the head (accidentally on purpose ***giggles***) or buying her cupcakes and running off into the sunshine with her while holding hands. We have decided on the latter for now, but anymore stonking graphics and we will be forced to revert to the former.

With music being the food of love and all that good stuff, we thought what could be better than making our lady of the wacom do good things to your ears with great music. So this week, musical magnificence comes to you courtesy of Alexis – these weeks DJ. Here we go…

1. Fireflies by Owl City
J, my fiance, has been adamant about choosing a first dance song since we got engaged, and I, being the stressball that I am, have wanted to focus on more important things like a date and a venue. I will say, although I don’t think it will be our first dance, that Fireflies by Owl City, was the first song that I listened to after he proposed to me, and although somewhat overplayed now, still holds a special place in my heart.

2. I have also suggested By Your Side by Sade for our first dance, but J is not convinced. There is work to be done, but I love the lyrics and I love Sade. She is a beautiful artist.

3. My Girl by the Temptations
My dad grew up in Oakland and he knows good music. I’ve been brought up listening to Motown (i’m sure I got some of my dance moves from him as well!) and am so glad he introduced me to the Temptations (long ago!). This has been our song since before I can remember. I love it. I love that we have a song and I love my Dad. This will definitely be played at my wedding – without a doubt.

4. Do You Love Me by the Contours
My best friends played this song at their wedding after their first dance (which was sooooo cute) and it was the perfect way to get everyone on the dance floor. Its good for all ages and its such a fun song. Plus, give me Dirty Dancing any day.

5. One more time by Daft Punk
This song reminds me of high school – the good, the bad, and the ugly It totally brings back memories of when I first met my fiance and so it feels very cheesy but very appropriate. It also reminds me of all my amazing friends who I love so so so so much. This song will definitely be played at our wedding.

6. Last but not least – how do you end the night?
I have no idea but right now I’m loving “How Sweet it Is to be Loved by You” by Marvin Gaye (Acapella Version) because – isn’t that the way you should feel on your wedding day? Thats how I feel right now
