Our favourite shoots don’t just capture love…
They capture life…
The down-home feel of the images are perfect pixels for a languorous warm Friday afternoon, and aren’t you the lucky ones to espy these images from the lens of Rachel Gulotta.
It would be a mahoo-sive understatement not to mention our fan girl credentials when it comes to this talented photographer. There is such a warmth to her style, a sense of intimacy that make the work a visual conversation, nothing feels contrived or forced.
Not likely to end up on awkward family photos in half a decade or sooner.
Just the happy faces of a couple who love each other.
The images that are part of you viewing pleasure this fine afternoon are of Kate and Josh.
Kate and Josh live and love in a high rise located in River North — one of Chicago’s best gems — so that’s exactly where we started their engagement session. The pair have totally decked out their apartment in vintage finds and modern picks — from the vintage thermos collection and butter churner to the succulents, animal skin throw, and antler sheds. It’s totally clear that they’ve put their hearts and souls into their space, so I’m endlessly grateful that I was invited to capture that part of their lives.
Our session started organically – quite literally. The two prepped and prepared a breakfast hash from scratch – a very typical morning for the Photo Stylist and Law Student. After they shared their hearty meal together, they simply enjoyed each other, their pets, some crisp vinyl, and the gorgeous view.See Some More Post a comment (2)
London = Home
It is also home to a million chicken shops, actually it is scary how many chicken shops there are; we think it may be some soylent green shenanigans. Given the horse meat saga… it might be pigeons? Come on, where did the pigeons really go after they were banished from Trafalgar Square? Makes you think doesn’t it?
However, London is home to some pretty beautiful locations – now throw in some beautiful soon-to-be-married people and of course we are going to get supper happy. So, this shoot is at the gorgeous Barbican (it’s the ultimate hide and seek location and had Saddam and Osama been there we truly doubt that either of the pair would have been caught);
But, one pair who did get caught – with no trial or execution – are the lovely and in love Bea and Duncan, who have been shot (no pun we swear that is not a run on from that Osama comment) by Maureen Du Preez, in this fantastic brutalist architecture. Your fun nerd fact of the day is that it was built post war 1960’s and 70’s.
These images were captured before the St Jude storms, however if this couple can make brutalist architecture and rain look good, we’ll think they’ll weather anything… and on that pun we will let go and let shutter candy begin!See Some More Post a comment (5)
We are calling it loved up couple o’clock *throw hands in the air and changes minds*, it’s been four years, yup – it is still shutter candy! Who are we rubbernecking at this fine afternoon you may well ask? Well, the couple who you are going to be gawking and swooning over are the lovely and in love, Raychel and Roadie, lensed by the rather awesome Amy Cloud Photography.
We say that the couple that plays together stays together, well the couple that goes rock climbing together really freaking trust each other as that stuff be dangerous: so that makes them dangerously in love (we would insert a video to Queen Bey at this point but this is about love and not breaking out into spurious song).
Amy shared: I am so proud of this session. Like, uber proud. I broke every photography rule in the book with this shoot and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I know there are things like the rule of thirds, turning faces towards the sun to avoid shadows, etc etc etc. But with this shoot I just let go and did what inspired me. I went with the flow and let these two play and be themselves. It was so fun being a part of Raychel and Roadie’s adventure.
Life and love just seem to come so easy to these two. Not a worry in the world. I felt at peace and so natural with my camera around them. I was so inspired by their carefree personalities and hipster vibe. I am drawn to those who march to the beat of their own drum.
I hope you love these like I do…
On that lovely note… we kind of make that time for shutter candy to begin!See Some More Post a comment (3)
This afternoon needs something a little swoon worthy and we think that we have just the ticket in the shutter candy variety we have a gorgeous styled shoot and it has two things we like short hair (we don’t see enough and a beard we are liking the biblical/pre-war/face fur vibe at the moment is is happy making). The couple are the gorgeous Barbers (Tosha and Chris) and noooooooooo we are not kidding you after our little wise cracks about hair!
Emily Kennedy,he planner behind this beautiful pixel arrangement shared –
A style shoot that was designed around a stable house and the idea of what it would look with crystal chandeliers hanging from the stable stalls.
This turn of the century inspired shoot features a wedding cake in the middle of the table, elegant china with gold accents, and a Olia Zavozina Couture gown. The shoot took place at Historic Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, TN and was photographed by Sarah of The Collection.
So, you’ve got the skinny on what is behind all the wonderfulness – which makes it quiet o’clock for us and shutter candy time for you. Let the good pixel stuff begin!See Some More Post a comment (6)
